The Web & Digital Quality Control Internship affords an opportunity for the selected students to participate in the research and development of our web and digital quality control processes. Individuals in this role are expected to multitask and oversee a variety of responsibilities including predictive modeling, graph analysis, and may also assist with industry reporting, as well as communicating real-time changes. The goal of this role is to find optimal online web and digital solutions through data analysis. Individuals are expected to have a strong technology background, including the use of Microsoft Office, SQL, and VBA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
▪ Collect and follow up on testing documentation for web and digital standards
▪ Enforce testing procedures
▪ Proofread web narratives, function, and instructions for consumer utilization
▪ Work as a Product Tester to test, critique, and communicate site issues within QC
▪ Communicate with Sales, Marketing, and Graphic Design teams on web capabilities
▪ Support the design, development, and digital solutions project teams across the organization
▪ Responsible for data acquisition, data processing, and data extraction
▪ Manage geospatial databases, map production, and development of report graphics
▪ Follow a quality control focused workflow
▪ Maintain a high level of accuracy, detail, and productivity in all aspects of work
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, with little direction and supervision
▪ Ability to prioritize and manage work to adhere to project timelines in a fast-paced environment
▪ Takes ownership of tasks assigned on projects
▪ Basic knowledge and experience of web application development, processing data in XML, JSON, and text format
▪ Basic understanding of hardware architectures and network systems
▪ Experience with Microsoft Access is preferred
▪ Problem solving ability and strong written/verbal communications skills
EDUCATION: Progress toward undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Operations Research, Management Information Systems, Engineering, IT, Business Administration, or related field. Maintained 2.75 or above cumulative GPA.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:
Highly skilled in data analysis and the ability to create Pareto charts, pivot tables in Excel, and solve unknowns using Linear Programming or the Simplex Method is preferred. Classroom and/or industry experience using programming languages building applications, preferred languages including Python, JavaScript, Ruby, HTML5, VBA and SQL.
SCHEDULE: 6-12 months, depending on amount of hours (Fall/Spring Semester, with the possibility of extending to Summer) (Hours are flexible and can be arranged according to a student’s academic/work schedule)
REMUNERATION: Paid Internship. Academic credit also available.
