FAQS - Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a marketing company and an advertising agency?

An advertising agency— is a service business dedicated to creating, planning, and handling advertising for its clients.

A
marketing company — is used to create the customer, to keep the customer, and to satisfy the customer’s needs.

Though both advertising agencies and marketing companies offer similar services, marketing companies tend to focus on anticipating the business needs and the wants of consumers. Traditional advertising companies usually place advertising for campaigns, regardless of results. Marketing companies focus on implementing effective, cost-efficient programs, to give businesses a detailed, objective understanding of their own customers and market. This then dictates where and how to advertise—if advertising is even necessary. Marketing companies are not all about statistics and numbers. Good marketing companies pay attention to your end client's needs, by helping with the way you run your company's operations, client relations and marketing.

What is a professional service network?

Professional Services Networks are business networks of independent firms who come together to cost-effectively provide professional services to clients through an organized framework. They are principally found in law and accounting. They may also be found in investment banking, insurance, real estate, consulting, and architectural services.

Any profession that operates locally, but has clients in multiple locations, are potential members of a network.

What is a professional service?

A professional service is an intangible product that a contractor or product vendor sells to help a customer manage a specific part of their business. Because professional service providers have specialized knowledge about niche areas of interest, such as law, marketing, or accounting, they allow the customer to focus on core business concerns.

Unlike most consultants, who may only be responsible for providing specific advice, a professional service provider may also be responsibility for the end result.

What is considered a professional service provider?

Definition: Individuals who provide your company with specialized service, including but not restricted to lawyers, accountants, and management consultants.

Professional services providers can be found in a number of public and private subsectors. For some providers, professional services may be a primary line of business, while for others, professional services may be sold as an add-on to a core offering.

What are examples of professional services?

Professional services firms exist in many different industries. They include lawyers, advertising professionals, architects, accountants, financial advisers, engineers, and consultants, among others. Basically, they can be any organization or profession that offers customized, knowledge-based services to clients.

What do professional consultants do?

A professional consultant gives expert advice to businesses and organizations. Consultants work with all types of organizations and industry sectors, including technology, marketing and non-profits. Consultants may work as independent contractors and often work for several different clients.

What services do consultants provide?

Consultants offer a wide range of services, including but not limited to the following:

      ▪ Providing expertise in a specific market.
      ▪ Identifying problems.
      ▪ Supplementing existing staff.
      ▪ Initiating change.
      ▪ Providing objectivity.
      ▪ Teaching and training employees.
      ▪ Doing the "dirty work," (i.e., eliminating staff).
      ▪ Reviving an organization.

What is a professional consulting firm?

A consulting firm or consultancy is a professional service firm that provides expert advice for a fee. Consulting firms may have one employee or thousands; they may consult in a broad range of domains, for example, management, engineering, and so on.

What are the different types of professional consultants?

Consultants offer a wide range of services, including but not limited to the following:

        ▪ Strategy Consulting.
        ▪ Business Consulting.
        ▪ Financial Consulting.
        ▪ Information Technology Consulting.
        ▪ Management Consulting.
        ▪ Sales Consulting.
        ▪ Marketing Consulting.
        ▪ Brand Consulting.

Why do companies use consultants?

The number one benefit that consultants can offer to businesses is that they can provide temporary expertise. In addition, hiring a consultant enables cost benefits associated with a lack of taxes, the need to pay benefits, or human resources issues that are associated with hiring a new full-time employee

What is the difference between a business analyst and consultant?

Business Consultant can play role of Business Analyst as well as play role of advisor also. Business Consultant roles are more towards advising and making strategic operations decisions, whereas Business analyst would be more involved in liaising role between different groups and getting requirements finalizing.

What's the difference between ‘sales’ and ‘marketing’

Sales — are what you do and say during the one moment your product or service is being purchased.

It's confirming the payment options. Salespeople have to feed the marketing process and use the resources effectively that they had a part in building. There needs to be a partnership between the sales and marketing departments.

Marketing — is what you do (salespeople and marketing people) before and after the sale.

It is the strategy that will identify prospects that will lead to the sale. Marketing is learning about your client needs and delivering on them (or realizing there is not a fit with a prospect). Marketing is about building awareness and relationships - it's everything that makes
'the phone ring' the first time and convinces past customers to buy from you again and/or refer you and your business to other potential customers. Marketing includes anything that comes into contact with your potential customer.
