POSITION SUMMARY:
NEW HEIGHTS BMC MEDIA guides brands, businesses, agencies and start-ups through the concept and development of user-friendly advertising & marketing products, promotions, and strategies that highlight the uniqueness of each brand’s proposition.
STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER
The Staff Photographer’s main priority will be photographing images and visuals that represent various advertising products, and client businesses – which will be used for marketing and advertising purposes. Responsibilities will also include organizing and cataloging the images for future use, as well as coordinating and managing image posts to social media.
The Staff Photographer will be required to photograph many subjects in many settings, depending on the nature of the job(s), and will also be required to edit and prepare photographs and submit them to clients and/or submit to production team for publication.
Additionally, s/he will need to be prepared to travel to locations for photoshoots and set up shots in studio or natural environments. S/he must be comfortable with unusual work hours and working outdoors. It is entirely possible for a photoshoot to take place in the dead of the night or in early dawn – at a remote place far away from the city.
The position of Staff Photographer is a management position and will be required to provide guidance on photography techniques to all junior staffers, as well as manage and oversee the work of all outside photographers – ensuring output exceeds industry standards and expectations. Since photographers gain much of their expertise through on-the-job experience, applicants for this position must provide a portfolio of their work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
The initial staff is expected to assume multiple roles while undertaking multiple responsibilities. Your duties may include:
- Managing company’s commercial photography sessions – capturing images and composing still photographic shoots
- Assisting Art Director in preparing budgets and managing expenses.
- Editing photos and submitting photos to appropriate persons
- Overseeing file printing, naming, and delivery operations, as well as archiving images and organizing files
- Performing candid coverage for special events, and studio photography or on location photoshoots as assigned
- Collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Design, and Production teams to plan and coordinate photoshoots
- Communicating with company’s advertising clients to set up times and places for photoshoots
- Working flexible hours to accommodate client schedules
- Maintaining relationships with clients, team members, models, stylists, hair/makeup artists, and assistants, etc.
- Creating content with an exceptional range of creative, technical, and documentary imagery
- Executing standard photography procedures including image editing techniques, tools, processes, and guidelines
- Overseeing brand standards, lighting technique, and image quality
- Enhancing photo product presentations
- Driving photography services towards continuous improvement and creative solutions
- Providing guidance on photography techniques to junior staffers.
- Managing work of outside photographers – ensuring output exceeds industry standards and expectations
- Utilizing up-to-date knowledge of product trends, consumer buying, and photography/imaging technology
- Performing inventory management of photography supplies and equipment.
- Keeping photography equipment up to date, organized, and maintained.
- Maintaining expertise in Photoshop to edit digital images.
