POSITION SUMMARY:
NEW HEIGHTS BMC MEDIA guides brands, businesses, agencies and start-ups through the concept and development of user-friendly advertising & marketing products, promotions, and strategies that highlight the uniqueness of each brand’s proposition.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DIRECTOR:
The NEW HEIGHTS BMC Internship Program Director will oversee, and In conjunction with the CEO, Human Resources Director, and various other department leaders, assist in implementing the centralized company-wide and external internship program.
The position encompasses two distinct areas of responsibility:
- Internal Internship Program Development, Coordination, and Management; and
- External Program Partners, Students, Academic Departments, and Employer Relations Management.
The Internship Program Director will oversee all internship application processing, student communications, program assessment, and overall program development for NEW HEIGHTS BMC’s Internship Program. In addition, the Internship Program Director will be a leader for all NEW HEIGHTS BMC’s internship policies, practices, and delivery. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively as a member of a team, provide direction and leadership, delegate, and will possess strong organizational skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
Manage and oversee all work involving students, internship coordinator, site supervisors, internship placement sites, and external program partners. Ensures all Child Labor Law requirements, and funding partners guidelines are being adhere to, as well as the appropriateness of the student’s placement in terms of required hours, scope, relevance, and level of responsibility.
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of a viable internal/external internship program
- Oversee supervision of student employee(s) designated to assist with office activities pertaining to internships
- Work collaboratively with faculty and administration on implementing policy and procedures for ensuring the academic quality and integrity of internships
- Continue to develop and implement a centralized registration process for internships in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources and IT department
- Assist in developing partnerships, identifying resources, and providing engaged programming to increase students’
awareness of and successful participation in NEW HEIGHTS BMC Internship Program.
- In collaboration with the Human Resource Director, assist in creating and implementing a marketing campaign to raise awareness about NEW HEIGHTS BMC Internship Program and available resources to support student participation.
- Oversee marketing strategies used to connect students to experiential endeavors and jobs
- Oversee efforts to identify, develop and monitor current internship sites
- Plan and conduct internship workshops and information programs
- Develop an internship manual and promotional material and updates as needed
- Research appropriate websites and resources to support the program and also assess program’s effectiveness
- Assist staff in development of employer relations, program partnering, and funding program identification and utilization, through verbal and written communications, as well as membership in professional organizations
- Assist in marketing the programs and services through developing appropriate materials, attending job fairs, planning and hosting workshops, attending community meetings, as well as marketing and advertising special events
- Assist with production of program material and informational publications
- Visit employers to promote program and students
Education and/or Experience:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, psychology, communication, public relations or other related major. Master’s degree preferred.
- Must possess experience in a collegiate environment to understand the academic culture and must have the ability to effectively interact with faculty, staff, students, parents, and administrators.
- Familiarity with corporate and nonprofit human resource management. Understanding of experiential education and career advising. Experience in presentation of workshops or public speaking.
- Ability to research and quickly develop knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, occupational, career and personal growth.
- Ability to respect confidentiality and ethical boundaries with regard to guidelines, supervision, and professional consultation within the Student Development division.
- Ability to respond professionally to common inquires and/or complaints from students, staff, employers, or community at large, regarding career programming and technology.
