CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (CTO)
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is expected to perform and excel in the role of the organization’s technological thought leader. Our start-up marketing company needs a Chief Technology Officer who can provide technical leadership and training for the rest of the company, oversee all technology projects, as well as manage the work of all technology personnel – including interns. The ideal applicant will have an organized and creative mindset that drives him or her to find innovative solutions to common problems.
The Chief Technology Officer will oversee all technological endeavors and digital sales products, analyzing performance metrics. Therefore, s/he must remain aware of all emerging technology trends – leading the research and evaluation of emerging trends in information technology to determine their worth to the organization – and adapt the organization’s tech platforms as needed.
The Chief Technology Officer will make executive decisions with regards to the technological interests of the company, including managing the technology budget, making investments to align the company with the vision for its technological needs, and signing off on all system updates and designs before they can be implemented. The CTO will be responsible for overseeing the company's technological vision, researching and developing all digital products and service offerings requested by the CEO, implementing various technology strategies, and ensuring that all technological resources are aligned with the company's business needs.
The Chief Technology Officer should be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and an expert in technological development. He or she will work directly under the CEO and must function as both a technology expert and a marketing expert – making critical suggestions that will impact the current and future operations of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
The initial staff is expected to assume multiple roles while undertaking multiple responsibilities. Your duties may include:
- Assisting in setting the vision for how technology will be used in the company.
- Ensuring that the technological resources meet the company's short and long-term needs.
- Assist in developing and implementing the company’s strategy for using technological resources
- Developing technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals
- Overseeing all system design and changes in system architecture
- Evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure
- Ensuring technologies are used efficiently, profitably, and securely
- Discovering and implementing new technologies that yield competitive advantage
- Outline the goals for research and development.
- Leading the research and evaluation of emerging information technology trends to determine their worth to the organization
- Creating timelines for the development and deployment of all technological services.
- Helping departments use technology profitably
- Supervising system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
- Building quality assurance and data protection processes
- Managing technology budgets and time frames.
- Monitoring KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance
- Using stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
- Communicating technology strategy to partners and investors
- Representing the technological agenda in staff meetings and when making hiring decisions
- Maintaining current knowledge of technology landscape and developments
- Consolidating our technology platforms and create plans for each
- Track, analyze and monitor technology performance metrics
- Identifying new areas of digital marketing opportunities and creating plans to implement them for us and our clients
- Taking the initiative in thought leadership, innovation, and creativity
- Maintaining a consumer-focused outlook and aiding in the delivering of IT projects to market.
- Spearheading IT projects to increase our market reach and improve our USP
- Making executive decisions on behalf of the company's technological requirements.
- Acting as a mentor to team members.

- PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
- Advanced technological skill set and a demonstrated history with technology.
- Familiarity with marketing platforms, programs, and policies
- Extensive experience with MVC frameworks
- Extensive industry knowledge with an eye towards the future.
- Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy
- Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
