POSITION SUMMARY:
NEW HEIGHTS BMC MEDIA guides brands, businesses, agencies and start-ups through the concept and development of user-friendly advertising & marketing products, promotions, and strategies that highlight the uniqueness of each brand’s proposition.
ART DIRECTOR
The Art Director is expected to play an active hands-on role in all key projects, turning innovative thinking…into inspired creation. The physical look and feel (art and design) of The RTC Directory printed editions will be a direct influence of The Art Director. Everything from the directory’s cover design to its type size and typeface needs to be thought about and then discussed with the Editor-in-Chief, the Managing Editor, Marketing Coordinator, and the Director of Sales & Marketing.
The Art Director will outsource freelance employees, including all graphic designers, videographers, photographers, and illustrators, as well as arrange photo shoots for covers, Menu Ads, and the directory internal pages. This involves overseeing, organizing, and art directing entire photo shoots, deciding the shoot’s location, casting promotional models, as well as clothes shopping for models and searching for all necessary props.
Picture research is a specialist area within the Design department. It is the Art Director’s job to ensure the researcher finds existing images from galleries, museums, and other sources, and to clear rights for their usage. It is also the Art Director’s job to commission images, oversee the activity of the Creative team and serve as the liaison between the Creative team and the Product Development team. In addition, the Art Director will be responsible for attending various assigned business meetings and events.
In order to be successful, it is extremely important that the Art Director is personable, able to articulate objectives clearly, and comfortable directing traffic inside and outside of the office. Work-flow efficiency and effective communication will be key!
